Recently I received the latest copy of the Wargames Illustrated magazine this has an article on the 15mm figure extravaganza that was re-played here using the General de Brigade rules. The battle was Leipzig at 15mm scale it made our 500 square feet 2/5ths bigger yet again in scale! Loads of room for manoeuvring and getting thousands and thousands of figures on the tables!

Why 15mm, well the guys that come along to the Centre once a year have huge collections of their own, all beautifully painted and based and as Dave Brown said, “imagine how much space it will create dropping a scale from the usual 28mm”!

Well the article has encouraged me to post some of the pictures that were missed out from the magazine. The articles this month are excellent, several focussing on the 1813 battles. Pictures are also superb, so well worth a look!

Here are a few of the pictures that were omitted, just to wet your appetite.

I hope you have enjoyed them.

I run a number of events here at the Centre which are never advertised due to cubs booking the facilities to re-enact their own periods or use their own rulesets. I offer club discounts and am flexible on what you use, whether it be all the facilities, some or just the table space, give me a call if you always fancied playing Marston Moor at a 10:1 scale or Agincourt!! for example. I will be happy to help.

Here’s some snap shots of the Marlburian games, this one in particular is Oudenarde.

More Strategem figures.

We have a lot of Front Rank Cavalry as well, which are superb looking models.

Danish Cuirassier from Front Rank Miniatures.

I hope you have enjoyed the piccies. More tomorrow.

Well there has been another influx of superb American civil War Generals from the talented brush of Mr David Balfour. These are a mix of figures from various manufacturers, I am hoping David will comment to fill in the gaps for us.

Nathan Bedford Forrest charging to the fore.

The Bedford-Forrest figure is actually the Salute 2011 complimentary figure if I remember correctly..all looking to grace the table for the up and coming anniversary refight of Gettysburg here at the WHC.

Tremendous, many thanks David.

Over the coming months we have a feast of different periods playing here at the WHC. Firstly I wanted to show you some of the photos from our early WWII games, in France 1940, we have a couple of these advertised later in the year. I am however interested in just what else people want to play in this period, so here is a few photos to jog memories and whet some appetites!

The scene of the main town during the France 1940 game.

These prove ever popular and we’re certainly considering how we might offer more games with a lot more variety, not just in the various WWII theatres, but also in the rules we use. I have offered Rapid Fire and Flames of War, both of which work exceedingly well on the big tables we use, with some minor tweaks!

Some very nice early war German infantry with Anti-Tank rifles from SHQ Miniatures.

A view of one of our early war battles in full swing.

Some of our fantastic buidings along with a Platoon command squad.

Brigade Command moving into a ruined church.

Another view of the battlefield.

Single day games will be put on as well as our usual weekends, I just need to hear from people and look at presenting the ones that you the players want.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Well what a great weekend of sunshine, an extra day off to boot…as promised on Friday here is the second instalment of the Saxons from Calpe Miniatures all painted by the very modest Neil Sheardown.

As you may know these figures are all from the Calpe Miniatures range, there are quite a few French infantry in amongst them, although all the command and the calf skin covered shako’s are Saxon. The results are very pleasing!

Good morning Generals, I have just finished photo shopping the latest images of these fine figures. Taken during our recent 1809 Hypothetical battle these are great looking units.

I understand that they are a mix of the Saxon and French troops from Calpe Miniatures.

Great additions to any French Napoleonic generals collection, a lot of the French infantry in greatcoats make great Saxon additions.

These were all painted by Neil Sheardown, Neil has been painting figures for many years and is certainly getting better and better every time I see his work.

The flags are from GMB Designs great additions to any collection, they look fantastic once applied and unfurled.

I will have a few more of these for you on Monday.
