People who play Napoleonics often tend to overlook the plentiful troop types in any particular army in my opinion. The French Chasseurs a Cheval of the line are one such unit. These were the largest formation of light cavalry in the French army with as many as thirty one regiments listed by 1811, although this had shrunk to fifteen by 1815. Even at this time they still far outnumbered the Hussars and lancers of the line, their light cavalry counterparts.
Chasseur a Cheval from the Connoisseur Miniatures range, a good solid figure, with plenty of detail.
These particular figues have been with the Wargames Holiday Centre for many years, originally painted by Doug Mason I believe with a hand painted standard, which can be seen just in the background.
Close up for the detail level.
I hope to bring more images to you over the coming months, with more cavalry of the Line.
Until tomorrow.
