Here at the Wargames Holiday Centre we are running our first Warhammer 40K Doubles Tournament on Saturday the 26th October 2013, from 08.00 til late. I have enlisted the help of Nick Jenkin, Mark Waple and a few of the other tournament refs and veterans to assist, so the event should be great fun and hopefully the first of many.

This will be slightly different to the normal tournies given that each of the tables will be 6′ x 6′. This opens the game up to a whole new range of possibilities, we have play tested the scenarios and are very pleased with the results, the tournament is a doubles with 16 team places. There’s all the usual aspects of the tournaments, food, drink, parking etc.

Why 15mm, well the guys that come along to the Centre once a year have huge collections of their own, all beautifully painted and based and as Dave Brown said, “imagine how much space it will create dropping a scale from the usual 28mm”!

Well the article has encouraged me to post some of the pictures that were missed out from the magazine. The articles this month are excellent, several focussing on the 1813 battles. Pictures are also superb, so well worth a look!

I run a number of events here at the Centre which are never advertised due to cubs booking the facilities to re-enact their own periods or use their own rulesets. I offer club discounts and am flexible on what you use, whether it be all the facilities, some or just the table space, give me a call if you always fancied playing Marston Moor at a 10:1 scale or Agincourt!! for example. I will be happy to help.

The Bedford-Forrest figure is actually the Salute 2011 complimentary figure if I remember correctly..all looking to grace the table for the up and coming anniversary refight of Gettysburg here at the WHC.

These prove ever popular and we’re certainly considering how we might offer more games with a lot more variety, not just in the various WWII theatres, but also in the rules we use. I have offered Rapid Fire and Flames of War, both of which work exceedingly well on the big tables we use, with some minor tweaks!

As you may know these figures are all from the Calpe Miniatures range, there are quite a few French infantry in amongst them, although all the command and the calf skin covered shako’s are Saxon. The results are very pleasing!

I understand that they are a mix of the Saxon and French troops from Calpe Miniatures.

Great additions to any French Napoleonic generals collection, a lot of the French infantry in greatcoats make great Saxon additions.

These were all painted by Neil Sheardown, Neil has been painting figures for many years and is certainly getting better and better every time I see his work.

The flags are from GMB Designs great additions to any collection, they look fantastic once applied and unfurled.

Doug is still taking commissions, give him a call though as he isn’t too hot on e-mail..

You can take it from me that there are no original figures in this entire regiment. The animation and “life” that comes from Dougs work is a real pleasure for me.
